Kerry/Brokaw ‘04

by Kyle on March 8, 2004

This is just too crazy of a story for me to not share it. The Wall Street Journal’s OpinionJournal is speculating about a John Kerry / Tom Brokaw ticket. And according to their story, the White House is not happy about the idea.

And why would they be? You look at the cast of stiffs that the Democrats are considering (well, they’re better than Dick Cheney, but still–it’s hard for me to get fired up about Dick Gephardt or Bob Graham), and then you look at Brokaw, who might very well be the most trusted man in America, and you’ve got to favor the former to the latter. Not to mention the thought of a Cheney – Brokaw debate. How do the Republicans win that one? If Cheney rips into Brokaw, they might as well kill a puppy on stage; if they lose, a Republican icon just got taken to task by the guy from the Nightly News.

It may prove to be nothing more than speculation. But then again, I wouldn’t be surprised if something did come of it. If there’s one thing I’ve learned in the past few years, it’s that the decisions follow around the money, and if you talk to the Democratic elite, the money would flow like Cristal if Tom Brokaw joined the Kerry ticket in 2004.
