What’s in a name, anyways?

Well, they’ve gone and done it now:

ANAHEIM — Angels Baseball Monday announced the team has changed its official name to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. 

I understand the desire to make the team more LAish, to try to increase the appeal to the vast Angeleno audience; but the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim?  This is starting to get ridiculous on the order of the Poulon-Weedeater Independence Bowl. 

Can anyone tell me how this is going to change anything next year, besides ensuring the Angels have the silliest name in all of baseball?   Is there anyone in Los Angeles who wouldn’t root for the Angels before, but now, all of a sudden, is going to be a die-hard Halos fan b/c they have Los Angeles in their name?  Mr. Moreno does know that the team is still going to play its home games in Anaheim, right?
