Songs you don’t want stuck in your head, volume 437

The new Sufjan Stevens record Illinois is definitely a keeper.   But track 4, "John Wayne Gacy, Jr." — a haunting little folk song whose lyrics just happen to be all about the disturbingly-prolific serial killer who liked to dress up as a clown — is definitely not the song you want to catch yourself singing randomly at different points throughout your day.  I know, from experience, dude.

  1. The best way to get rid of something is to replace it. Sandwiched on either side of track 4 is track 3 and track 5, two of the most beautiful songs ever.
