10 Blogs I’d Take to a Desert Island

by Kyle on August 28, 2005

Old thread, but I have been meaning to respond, and by gosh, I am going to post a response:

  1. Gawker – Week in and week out, still the best show out there.
  2. Buzzmachine – Jarvis rules. ‘Nuff said.
  3. Tony Pierce – In case I hadn’t made it clear, Tony’s one of the Taco Stand’s biggest influences and remains a daily read.
  4. Defamer – Way better than most late night TV monologues.
  5. goldenfiddle – Did anyone ever give Spencer his Rookie of the Year trophy?
  6. blogging.la – Ok, now if I was really going to a desert island, I probably wouldn’t NEED b.la’s local coverage; but it would do a nice job of reminding me of home.
  7. Marginal Revolution – A smart (yet not ridiculous with abusing big words in a sad attempt to show off) group blog about economics and social issues.
  8. Ze Frank – Ok, not exclusively just a "blogger".  Whatever.  So I can’t have some video/multimedia on this desert island you speak of?
  9. Waxy/Waxy’s Daily Links – Yeah, it’s 2, it’s cheating…and yeah, I know what you’re thinking–Waxy over Kottke?  See below.
  10. Blogebrity – I know, it’s lame to plug my own blog; so if/when I can JUST take Nick’s posts to a desert island, that’s what I’ll be doing.

Honorable Mentions/If I Only Had 20…: Boing Boing, Kottke, Lindsayism, The Listen, Mark Cuban, Fimoculous, Micro Persuasion, Hooplog, Stereogum and Romenesko.

NOTE 1: Wonkette would make the list, if she actually posted there with any consistency.  But let’s be honest–I can’t take an occasional cameo to a desert island.
NOTE 2: If he posted a little more regularly, I’d probably take my brother’s blog (KevinBunch.org) too.
