The Paul F. Tompkins Report: March 2006

If you consider yourself a Paul F. Tompkins fan, and you live in Los Angeles, then March is a good month for you my friend.  For starters, there’s the Upright Citizens St. Paddy’s Celebration which Paul will be a part of:

Join the UCB Theatre’s best performers as they celebrate Irish culture
by getting really drunk on stage. On March 17th brothers Hops and
Barley McManus (Seth Morris and Owen Burke) welcome you to St. Patrick’s Day Celebration at the UC-Bar,
where it’s St. Patrick’s Day every night. Join such loveable regulars
as Tipsy the half-shirt Leprechaun, Popi O’Lopez the Puerto Rican
Irishman, Tough Irish Priest and Two-Skanks-From-Boston for drinking
games, drinking songs and… drinking.

As if that weren’t enough, on March 27th, there’s the celebration of the 4th anniversary of the Paul F. Tompkins show at Largo.  If you didn’t get a reservation, you’re probably going to have to show up really early to wait in line…but really, this isn’t about you.  So be happy for Paul, and make sure to call ahead for a reservation next time, slacker.

In the meantime, if you didn’t don’t live in Los Angeles, don’t fret.  You don’t have to go PFT-less for March: There is a good Paul F. Tompkins interview by The Onion A.V. Club’s Amelie Gillette (who is neither the heiress to both the Gillette fortune AND royalties from the semi-autobiographical story about her life as a shy waitress):

AFC: What do you think of a show called
"Aspen… On The Edge"?

PFT: Sounds edgy. What does it mean? I haven’t heard
about that show. But Aspen is known for its edginess, right? The edginess that
tremendous wealth always has to it.

AVC: Can you think of a better name for it?

PFT: Aspen: I Saw A Black Guy Today.
