Lakers move to 2-0 against Golden State without #824 — Lamar Odom again leads the way, with 22 points and one rebound and one dime shy of a triple-dub.
Kurt Rambis filled Phil Jackson’s shoes, as the legendary coach stayed in L.A. to rest up after his hip replacement surgery four weeks ago.
But the real story was Ronny Turiaf, who had 23 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks and 2 steals on the night. From a guy who had major heart surgery just over a year ago.
If the Lakers can get real production from Turiaf and/or Bynum on anything resembling a regular basis, the rebuilding process would get significantly accelerated. Too early to get hopes up too high (or give Mitch Kupchak too much credit), but I like what I’ve seen so far (through all of 2 games).
Somewhat disturbing sidenote — Andrew Bynum was born on October 29, 1987. Top Gun and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off predate him.
Exciting sidenote to the disturbing sidenote — If he’s at all for real, the Lakers could have their 5 spot filled through the 2019-2020 season.
