Recent Projects: ReadyScore

by Kyle on December 1, 2006

Making good on the promise I made yesterday, here’s a bit on ReadyScore, an aggregator we built to provide comprehensive coverage of disaster and emergency preparedness. Pinacol developed the site for a client who was looking to promote their product offerings (which are emergency preparedness-related) while providing a portal for accessing information from sources ranging from Google and Yahoo! News to hundreds of niche-focused blogs, both here in America and abroad.

Utilizing a customized version of the excellent reBlog software suite from Eyebeam, coupled with a Movable Type install enhanced by the AutoCats plugin (public release forthcoming) we developed with Kevin Shay, we were able to deploy the ReadyScore site in a matter of weeks, from initial concept to live site. And with the software/setup, the site only needs a few minutes of attention from a human editor once/twice a day to stay up-to-date with the latest news on any disaster/emergency preparedness-related information.

Currently the site aggregates news across topics such as Earthquakes, Bird Flu, Terrorism, and most importantly, issues of Preparedness (Food, Electricity, Medicine, Water).

If you do take the time to check it out, I’d love to hear any comments or questions that you might have — either here or via email; as with all our projects, always looking to improve based on the comments of our userbase.
