Hey, look over here….more blogging

May 19, 2006

Don’t think I mentioned it….I now have my OWN blog over at The Listen.
It’s called Music on Mars, and it gives me the forum I’ve always needed to post the latest Pearl Jam video, my raves about all the coolest new digital music technology, or assorted Coachella videos.
Stop by on your web travels….while the [...]

Cory Doctorow: Full-time Writer

January 1, 2006

I can’t believe he wasn’t working as a full-time writer before, considering his annual output of books + BoingBoing…but Cory Doctorow has officially quit his day job at the EFF, to work on books and blogging full-time.  w00t!
Congrats Cory.

Hermanns in USA Today

December 31, 2005

Mark Memmott of USA Today wrote an interesting piece on Jeremy’s experiences with Flight 536, the photos he took, and the aftermath.  Being able to witness most of the response first-hand I can say–he really received every possible response imaginable, from being called a hero to the devil.

Having a party

December 12, 2005

It’s turning into quite a party over at Blogebrity — in addition to Nick, Angelina, Neil, Hermanns and Johns, the Cowboy just showed up.
We’re just one traffic cop away from a great Village People Halloween costume.
If you could be our traffic cop, send me an email at kyle@blogebrity.com.

Seven Deadly Sins of Blogging?

November 21, 2005

According to Great Nexus (via Steve Rubel), I’m a blog sinner.
Guilty on at least 2-3 here at the Taco Stand.  But fear not, loyal reader(s)…improvement or other distractions ahead.
Or maybe just video of me going upstairs and sedating my neighbor with chloroform, so he’ll stop walking around his apartment until 2a.m. every night.

No posts in awhile?

November 18, 2005

{insert standard "I’ve been busy with this and that" lines}
Don’t worry about me — I’m hard at work at a few new things (that for once in the last two years AREN’T blog-related) that I’ll be unveiling shortly.  In the interim, go read Nick’s great work over at Blogebrity, Juhbuh’s juicy goodness over at { [...]

Yahoo! News now accepting TrackBacks

October 27, 2005

I just posted a link to this story (about Sulu coming out of the closet) and TypePad pinged Yahoo! News at the url: http://labs.news.yahoo.com/trackback/ap/people_george_takei
I’m guessing from the labs part of the url, this is still a newer function.  We’ll follow this one to see what they actually do with the TrackBacks.  After all, I noticed [...]

Minding The Conversation Gap

October 26, 2005

My back is killing me right now, so I’ll have to come back and do a recap in a bit…but for now, please make sure to read Steve Rubel’s Mind The Conversation Gap.  Then talk amongst yourselves.  I’ll be back when I can sit and type without excruciating pain.

Blogebrity’s new threads

October 14, 2005

We launched the redesigned Blogebrity today.  Server/router/ISP issues have me too tired to talk about it in much detail.  But I did the design, and fine-tuned the programming and CSS, which was provided by Pinacol.  And the whole site is powered by Movable Type, in case you were wondering.

Buy week

October 7, 2005

Big week in the blog world, as Weblogs, Inc. gets bought by AOL, NetNewsWire gets swallowed up by NewsGator, Andy Baio’s Upcoming.org gets bought by Yahoo, and Verisign buys Weblogs.com from Dave Winer.
And hey–it’s still Friday morning, you know what that means–we could have another 2 companies sold by 5pm.

Josh Hallett on 8-Minute Abs/Web 2.0

October 3, 2005

I happened to see this over at Josh Hallett’s site today, in his post about Web 2.1/3.0, and I couldn’t resist reposting it here:
Hitchhiker: You heard of this thing, the 8-Minute Abs? Ted: Yeah, sure, 8-Minute Abs. Yeah, the excercise video. Hitchhiker: Yeah, this is going to blow that right out of the water. Listen [...]

10 Blogs I’d Take to a Desert Island

August 28, 2005

Old thread, but I have been meaning to respond, and by gosh, I am going to post a response:

Gawker – Week in and week out, still the best show out there.
Buzzmachine – Jarvis rules. ‘Nuff said.
Tony Pierce – In case I hadn’t made it clear, Tony’s one of the Taco Stand’s biggest influences and remains [...]

Yahoo! News launches its first blog

July 10, 2005

It’s dedicated to news the London Bombings and despite a less-than-user-friendly layout, and only providing summaries of each entry on the index page (gotta max out those click-thrus), it’s still cool to see Yahoo News adopt blogs for events like this–it’s a potentially great use of the medium.
